Piedmont Healthcare has raised $5 million in philanthropic donations to renovate The Women’s Center at Piedmont Atlanta but plans for a $30 million investment in the project. The renovation will include updated Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, intermediate nursery, neonatal intensive care, and postpartum facilities on the second floor of the main hospital.
Besides the facilities, the renovation will include ample family support and education space. Construction is expected to commence in the spring of 2022 but awaits approval from Georgia health planners first. The hospital will continue to offer Women’s Services during construction.
“In addition to creating a more patient-friendly space, this expansion will make room for anticipated and future growth of the service line, ultimately allowing us to care for more women in our community,†said Charlie Brown, M.D., CEO of Piedmont’s Physician Enterprise.
Alongside the Women’s Center renovations, Piedmont Healthcare is renewing its oncology services. Over the next five years, Piedmont plans to hire 18 new medical oncologists and open new oncology practice locations in Henry and Newton Counties.
