WellStar Health System recently named Kim Ryan, FACHE senior vice president and president of WellStar Atlanta Medical Center and WellStar Atlanta Medical Center South.
“Kim Ryan’s experience as both a nurse and a leader lends a unique perspective to WellStar on its journey to offering world-class healthcare,” said Carrie Owen Plietz, FACHE, executive vice president and chief operating officer of WellStar’s Hospital Division. “Paired with the long history of quality care delivered by our physicians, nurses and care teams by Atlanta Medical Center’s two campuses and outpatient locations, Kim’s leadership will ensure patients receive exceptional care close to home.”
Ryan joins WellStar from Southern Regional Medical Center where she served as president and CEO. Previously, she served as CEO of Eastside Medical Center and principal chief operating officer at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, leading operations during Hurricane Katrina. Ryan holds an MBA from Georgia College and State University, as well as an M.S. in nursing from the University of Rochester. She serves as board chair for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
On April 1, WellStar acquired Tenet Healthcare’s five Georgia-based hospitals – including the two Ryan now leads. They are now operated as not-for-profits, ensuring funds are reinvested back into the community with new treatments, technologies and facilities.
