Maurice G. Sholas, M.D., Ph.D., was recently named Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Sholas is Board Certified in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (one of less than 120 in the U.S.) and comes to Children’s from a previous appointment as an Assistant Professor and Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation section at Louisiana State University Health Science Center – New Orleans.
Sholas earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard University Medical School in 1998. He then went on to complete his residency in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2002. More recently, he received a Rotary/One Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Sholas’ wide-ranging medical background will aid his work with the Children’s Rehabilitation Services Division, as its programs serve patients with diverse conditions, from traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries to neurological diseases and other childhood impairments resulting from accidents, illnesses, injuries, congenital defects, syndromes and other conditions.
