Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) named James Bailey, MD, as Chief Medical Officer for the organization.
Dr. Bailey is a cardiac anesthesiologist and has worked at NGMC as an intensivist in the intensive care unit (ICU) and cardiac care unit since 2002, when he was instrumental in the development of NGMC’s open heart surgery program.
Dr. Bailey will continue to serve as medical director of NGMC’s intensivist program and work in the hospital’s ICU. Dr. Bailey said that by continuing his medical practice, he would be more in tune with his fellow medical staff, which will be crucial in his new role at the hospital.
“My first order of business will be to focus on computer technology to facilitate physician care and provide more readily accessible information for physicians,” he said.
